Medina Valley Pulls Away From Warren in 63-20 Victory

Warren vs. Medina Valley Football: Panthers Dominate Warriors 63-20

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Warren Warriors suffered their first loss of the season Saturday, falling 63-20 to the visiting Medina Valley Panthers in a non-league matchup.

Warren entered the contest with a 1-0 record after opening the season with a victory, but Medina Valley’s offense proved difficult to slow down throughout the night. The Panthers improved to 2-0 with the win, while Warren dropped to 1-1.

Despite the final score, Warren quarterback M. Anderson (Sr.) showed flashes through the air, completing 8 of 16 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns, including a long completion of 64 yards. Anderson also contributed eight rushing yards on four carries.

The Warriors finished with 263 total yards, including 167 passing yards and 96 rushing yards. Senior D. Thornton led Warren on the ground with 66 rushing yards on 15 carries, averaging 4.4 yards per attempt with a long of 17 yards. E. Romero (Jr.) added 21 rushing yards on nine carries, while Anderson contributed eight yards.

Through the air, J. Daniel (Sr.) was Warren’s leading receiver, recording four catches for 88 yards and a touchdown, with a long reception of 64 yards. D. Corley (Jr.) added two receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown, while K. Phoenix (Sr.) caught one pass for 16 yards.

Defensively, S. Crisp (Sr.) led the Warriors with 17 total tackles, including five solo tackles and 12 assists. T. Crisp (Jr.) recorded nine tackles and two tackles for loss, while B. Marquardt and N. Lerma (Jr.) each finished with eight tackles. Warren totaled 71 tackles and seven tackles for loss as a team.

The Warriors will look to bounce back Saturday, September 12, when they host Marshall in a 6A Region IV District 29 matchup. Marshall enters the game at 1-1 following a 35-28 victory over Southwest.
